"The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn." - John Lubbock
Welcome to Hancock Street Preschool. We are a cooperative preschool for three- and four-year-old children located in Northeast Portland at Hancock and 16th Ave. We utilize facilities inside the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where we have four classrooms for the kids to explore, banks of windows that fill the rooms with light, and a beautiful courtyard where the children can safely express their exuberance.
Join us for an open house! Tour the classroom, meet the teachers and some parents at our open house on Saturday, February 4 from 10am-1pm. Click here for more information about the open house. Applications will be available during the open house or by downloading here. Please see the membership page to learn more about enrollment.
Founded in 1984, Hancock Street Preschool, Inc. focuses on socialization and learning through play and exploration. We work together to ensure that our children receive love, support and guidance from teachers and parent-helpers. As a cooperative, we afford members the opportunity to further develop their children's potential and capabilities, and form long-lasting friendships.
We have two classes: the three-year-old "Red" class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the four-year-old "Blue" class meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Both classes are held from 9:30 am to Noon. There are 18 students in each class.
We utilize facilities inside the Westminster Presbyterian Church. The building is handicap accessible. We have four adjoining classrooms for the kids.
Please explore this website for more information about who we are and how the co-op works. If you are interested in joining, visit our membership page.
