Quiet Room: Science, Writing, Puzzles, Reading

The Quiet Room provides many opportunities for children to work and play independently and together. We have a library corner with books, pillows, and stuffed animals, which is available to children throughout playtime. There's also a puzzle table, a listening corner with tapes and books, a table for math games, a magnet board, a writing table, and a science area.

Our classroom is a "print rich" environment where children are supported in their writing and drawing activities. An appealing variety of writing and drawing materials are always available at our writing table and responsive adults offer help and positive feedback to the children.

Science is a major component of our curriculum. The children are exposed to the growth and changes of live plants and animals throughout the year.

Our activities evolve out of the preschooler's natural sense of wonder. Our curriculum encourages questioning, observing, and predicting. It also promotes an appreciation and respect for nature.
